JIMMY WHIFFEN is an independent Canadian singer and songwriter, who has performed professionally, both live and in the studio, for over two decades.

An experienced musician with a deep love of his art, Jimmy enchants his audience with a passionate, powerful voice and embraces his stage with a graceful, captivating sound. Jimmy seamlessly covers a wide spectrum of classical and contemporary genres, from country, folk and roots, to rock, Celtic and beyond.

Influenced by a rich musical heritage and with a profound respect for his mentors, Jimmy has focused his entire lifetime towards creating and perfecting his own unique style of music. Inspired by real people in real situations, Jimmy’s songs are a compelling reflection of these influences.

Born a showman, Jimmy has played music in venues since the age of five, starting from the family kitchen, progressing to the concert stage.

In 1997, with numerous singles and a new album to his credit, Jimmy was acclaimed the MIANL Country Music Artist of the Year.

In March 2006, Jimmy wrote and debuted his song, “No Crying”, at the Change For Children Association’s “One World Beat” concert at Edmonton’s Francis Winspear Centre for Music.

In January 2007, Jimmy was the recipient of the “Eddy Bayens Award” from the Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund for songwriting.

Jimmy’s recent public performances include “Extreme Country Fever” in Grande Prairie, Alberta, “The Magnificent River Rats Festival” in Athabasca, Alberta, and with Canadian country artist Jason Blaine in a songwriters’ circle earlier this year. Jimmy has also opened for a variety of well-known acts, including Canadian rock icons “Streetheart” and “The Irish Descendants.”

Jimmy is currently focused on writing, recording and live presentation of his works. He has, over the past few years, independently produced four new acoustic demo recordings from his Edmonton studio and recently completed a series of recordings at Barry Allen’s Homestead Recorders.

Jimmy is a current SOCAN member, whose writing tends to naturally gravitate towards country music. Jimmy has received excellent reviews throughout his career.
